What to Expect When Working With Home Innovations...
A home remodel can be an intimidating and overwhelming process. Our objective is to be thoroughly predictable throughout the duration of your remodeling project. We want you know exactly what’s going on in a way that makes sense to you. Our key indicator to help us speak your language has been developed through the feedback our clients have given us over the years. This direct feedback has helped us hone our process, so we can keep it thoroughly simple for you. Please take a look at our Home Remodel Process below and then view some of the remodeling projects we have completed for our clients in our Before & After gallery.
- After contacting us, we will schedule an initial consultation; in order to gather all the information necessary, we ask that all ‘decision makers’ are at our first meeting.
- We will meet you at your home on the appointed date. The primary purpose of our first meeting is to hear your story and gather information regarding both your wish list, and your needs list. It’s also our desire to confirm compatibility with respect to our collective expectations including project scope, budget and timeline expectations.
- When a go-ahead is received from you, we initiate the home remodel design process in earnest. In other words, we get the drawings of your actual project started.
- A Design Meeting will be scheduled; matching up the correct skill set requirement with ‘On-Contract’ Architectural/Design firms.
- This stage is entirely about working through the design details of your home remodel project. We will show you our initial interpretation of your needs and wants, then hear your thoughts. This stage will be on-site (your home) and will involve both Home Innovations along with a contracted Architectural and/or design firm.
- The architectural and/or design firms will create conceptual drawings. The final step in the design process involves coming to a final project cost and complete Contract proposal.
- Measurements of the entire remodel space will be taken.
- Nailing down the design features and aspects of your remodel project. Having a hard time making up your mind about design features (paint colors, drapes, or new wood trim)? That’s okay, sometimes this step takes a couple of meetings, a few emails and phone calls before your dreams and wishes are clear; however once the plan is complete the project is now ready for implementation!
- Once the design plan is complete, the final step in the design stage is providing a contract, which must be approved in writing before we can proceed. (Just so you know, upon your approval the remodel contract is then endorsed, a project deposit is invoiced. And at this point, we schedule the start date!)
- Home Innovations meets with each trade craftsman and supplier to determine timeline involved for their particular segment of the project (carpenters, painters, drywall, granite, installers, demolition, everyone on our team).
- We then compile a detailed project schedule; in most cases this document is made available several weeks prior to the project’s start date to the homeowner as well as every single supplier and trade.
- We are responsible that each and every segment is implemented on time.In our Home Innovations Process, we take timeliness very seriously. We pride ourselves in the fact that we consistently meet the scheduled final walk-through date on the projects we take on, guaranteed. (Note: Changes and additions by the homeowner will affect the move-in date).
- A final discussion with the homeowner regarding the client's responsibility for removal of all furniture and appliances and access to the
- During this stage, Home Innovations Interior Designer/Selection Coordinator meets with the Homeowner during the time frame between contract approval and actual project start date in order to complete all product & material selections.
- This segment fondly called the ‘Shopping Stage’ is enjoyable because of the unique level of service provided by Home Innovations’ in-house design specialist. Each client is escorted to all Home Innovations’ vendors & suppliers for each item involved in the remodel, including color and paint selections, millwork and custom carpentry builds (closets, pantries, etc.), fireplace selections, flooring, plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, counter tops, balusters, etc.
- As could be expected the ‘Shopping Stage’ is time-sensitive, simply because the project cannot begin without the critical-path items chosen on time. (For example, we cannot begin the framing stage without the wind odel project is a messy and dusty process. We take care of your things and keep them safe from dust, demolished pieces of drywall, and any other pieces of debris.
- The first day also involves disconnects of all plumbing and electrical in areas impacted by the remodel.
- Home Innovations activity and quality control every day, at certain stages; more than one visit a day may be necessary. Our company’s management personally oversees our building projects. Whether it’s a small kitchen remodel or an entire home project, we are on site regularly to insure that the project is going smoothly and finishes on time just the way it was designed.
- Inspections are mandatory at certain city enforced junctures (just to let you know).
- The highest quality suppliers and trades are allowed into your home. Site safety is a top priority and is constantly implemented and monitored.
- Depending on the project size and complexity; an average kitchen and main floor remodel could have a duration of 2 to 4 months; adding a second story could potentially add an additional 2 months of construction. Many of Home Innovations remodels fall between 2 and 4 months in duration…the day everyone’s waiting for is for the final walk-through!
- At this stage, a meeting is scheduled with Home Innovations and the first wave of trades that are about to begin. This meeting is held to convey any last minute information or requests that you, the Homeowner, have asked for.
- Also covered at this stage are clarifications with the homeowner regarding such items as site washroom facilities, hours of construction, cleanup duties etc.
- Once blueprint confirmations are in order, an approved building permit is placed in a prominent location for all city inspectors to see if required; construction stage is now ready to begin!
- A flurry of activity is normally associated with the first day of construction on a home remodel project; the first day includes complete floor, wall and living space protection measures, including significant dust entrapment procedures.
